Exploring the Social Return on Investment of integrating Refugees into an European-Community

  1. Find an employee of the local municipal government who is frequently involved with refugees to act as a main contact.

  2. Schedule an interview with the contact from the municipal government

  3. Interview government contact.

  4. Ask for permission to record and share the information.

  5. Ensure you are recording the information in a detailed manner (ie. dictate notes, audio or video record the interview).

  6. Ask questions in an unbiased manner. Allow your contact to freely answer questions.

  7. If any additional contacts were collected during the initial meeting, schedule interviews these contacts then repeat step 3. Repeat until all willing contacts are interviewed.

  8. Organize the information gathered into the Inputs, Activities, Outputs, and Outcomes chart.

  9. Consider areas such as: Time, Capital, Programs, Human Resources, and Integration into the Community

  10. Analyse any additional information/resources gathered (ie. Budgets, schedules, lists, databases, records) and add to flow chart where necessary.

  11. Asses the final version of the flow chart and look for areas where the government could improve in order to more effectively support the refugees.

  12. Make and record recommendations for what the government can implement in the future in order to more effectively support the refugees.
